Shims - what do shims do and how do I use them?Updated 5 months ago

Shims are thin washers that can be placed between the mast and board or between the fuselage and backwing of a foil to change the angle of attack of the foil/backwing. A steeper angle of attack increases the lift and reduces the pressure of your foil on the back foot while riding. A flatter angle of attack reduces the pressure on the front foot and allows more weight transfer towards the tail. The use of shims allows riders to adjust the foil to their individual preferences and the current conditions in order to achieve optimum performance.
