My inflatable board has a small hole, how can I repair it?Updated 6 months ago
Same as it works with inflatable SUPs, you can fix a small whole in your inflatable Wing or Downwinder Board. This is what you need: Repair Kit (supplied), Scissors, Sandpaper, Pen, Glue (not supplied). We recommend: repair glues, for example Intex PVC repair glue or Adegrip PVC
1. Cut out a piece of the second layer material included in your repair box to cover the hole. Make sure the patch you cut out is big enough to cover the hole completely. The patch should be about 2cm bigger than the hole on all sides.
2. Roughen the area around the hole. Make sure to sand a larger area around the hole, sand thoroughly in order to roughen the material – this will make the patch stick much better. After that also roughen the patch itself on the side that will be glued on the board.
3. Put the cut-out patch on the hole and circle the area with a pen. This will help you to know where to put the glue.
4. Remove the patch and apply glue to the marked area.
5. Also put glue on the roughened side of the patch.
Attention: Do not use too much glue! It should only be a thin layer. Let the glue dry for at least 5 minutes – it should still be soft but not sticky when you put your finger on it.
6. Put the patch on the hole and press it with your fingers on the board as hard as you can. Rub it with your thumb in order to make it stick to the board properly on all sides. You can also use a piece of hard plastic or something similar to put even more pressure on the glued-on patch.
Leave to dry for a couple of hours.
